Identification and naming of historical fruit varieties is complicated and often subject to ongoing research and discussion.

Many old varieties are only known by their locally used or regional names. However, thanks to extensive and in many cases still ongoing research, we have of several accessions found the originally assigned, or used name, as well as their possible origin.
Where this is not yet the case, we have reproduced their (acc)ession ames by adding ‘acc.

The apple varieties shown are mostly historical varieties. A considerable number of them were already more or less assumed to have disappeared.
